Off the Blocks – Gaining Momentum
Happy Friday. Let’s get off the blocks, and running into the weekend!
For most people, the weekend is a time to celebrate a long and drawn out fight with the work week (which hopefully they won). NOT I! Today we’re going to talk a little bit about how to maximize your weekend as an entrepreneur, and a little bit about PHP and how you can learn it quickly and easily!
BamFam and Weekend Shenanigans!
The weekend is a place for me to put in an extra couple hours of work, both in my personal and business life. Now that this is occupying my time fully, the clock never stops. The gears should and are always spinning. Always moving, trying to figure the next greatest plugin or the right way to frame copy. But while I do work on most weekends, there are other ways to boost your business during the weekend as well besides “working”!
It’s a perfect time to network, especially when we have family outings scheduled. You know what they say, you always have to look for an opportunity to state what you do so people know who to call when they need quality services rendered. Do you have an elevator speech prepared for your business? If not, it’s best to get one down before you’re forced to spit something out and not have it polished! How serious you take your business is how serious others take your business. Also, if you screw it up they won’t pay you money, so there’s that.
Make sure if you pique someone’s interest, you casually offer to setup a meeting during the week to catch up and talk more in depth about your offerings! This is known as BamFam, and was taught to me by a very experienced salesperson. BAMFAM stands for Book a Meeting From a Meeting, and is central to closing business. Think of a weekend outing as the first meeting, and book one from there! Always make sure you have a follow up scheduled with a client or potential client. It will help you close more business, in turn leading to more confidence, and in turn leading to more closings. All good things!
PHP!
So, what is PHP used for? Well, to be frank, EVERYTHANG. PHP is for both General Use as a programming language, and specifically used as a server-side language for Websites. According to Wikipedia:
The web server combines the results of the interpreted and executed PHP code, which may be any type of data, including images, with the generated web page. PHP code may also be executed with a command-line interface (CLI) and can be used to implement standalone graphical applications.
There are a variety of tutorials to help you better understand PHP, and their videos are located below (all of the ones from YouTube, anyways).
Those videos, one a course and one a series of videos detailing php in a more granular way, are good entrances to learning the language. If you learn PHP, you’ll be able to understand the moving parts of a website that uses PHP as well as understand how to make dynamic content.
I wanted to keep this post short and sweet, but also leave video content up for you guys so you have some breadcrumbs to follow! If you liked this post, feel free to check out any of my latest posts and throw a like and share on this post so I can grow my audience. Thanks!
